Cheesy Spinach Bake

Calling all cheese lovers, this one’s for you. As we all know dairy is rich in calcium, something our teeth and bones need daily. This nutrient helps strengthen our teeth, protect from tooth decay and restore any minerals we have lost from acid exposure. This recipe is perfect as it’s delicious and nutritious, packed with high-calcium foods such as cheese and spinach.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen spinach
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 shallot
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Salt and pepper
  • Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C and thaw the spinach, if frozen. Prepare the cream cheese by heating it in the microwave for 30 seconds until slightly soft.
  2. Heat the butter in a saucepan and add the chopped shallots. Add the minced garlic a few minutes later and stir. Finally, add the spinach, creamed cheese and salt and pepper, and combine.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a baking tray, sprinkle with parmesan and bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is golden.
